9D8N Iceland Aurora Hunt (Camping Tour)

Day 1

Arriving Iceland – Blue Lagoon – Golden Circle

Arrival at Keflavik Airport.

Famous Blue Lagoon where you can relax and soak in the soothing, milky blue waters, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

 

Day 2

Seljalandfoss – Godafoss – Vik

Today, our next destination is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall.

We will be having our home cooked breakfast and then we drive towards the mighty EyjaUallajokull make a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

Overnight in Vik.

 

Day 3

Skaftafell – Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon – Hofn

The Amazing Glacier Lagoon

After breakfast and then we drive towards the east of Iceland. We will visit the majestic Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and the Crystal Beach.

Here you may choose an optional tour by taking a boat ride to get closer to the icebergs at additional cost.

Next, we will be heading to our final destination of the day – Hofn.

Overnight in Hofn.

 

Day 4

Djúpivogur – Breiðdalsvík – Neskaupstaður

The Beauty of East Iceland – Fjords.

Today, our exciting journey take us south through the sheltered East Fjords and their small fishing villages and high mountains. We drive through Almannaskarð tunnel to reach the villages Djúpivogur and Breiðdalsvík. In Stö ðvarUörður we can visit Petra’s Stone collection, one of the most complete collections of Icelandic minerals.

Overnight in the Egilsstadir area.

 

Day 5

Egilsstadir – Dettifoss – Godafoss -Akureyri

Dettifoss Waterfall, Myvatn, Akureyri

Today we will continue our journey on the road. Once we have crossed the greatest wilderness in Europe, we will visit Dettifoss Waterfall. Dettifoss is the most powerful waterfall in Europe, and while standing next to this giant waterfall, we can feel the earth tremble beneath our feet. Here we will learn about the immense forces of nature that shaped this peculiar area.

We will continue to explore the marvels of Lake Myvatn Nature Reserve. Myvatn is undoubtedly one of Iceland’s most renowned areas, due to its volcanic activity and its amazing bird life. On the way to Akureyri we must make a stop at the waterfall Godafoss – “The Fall of the Gods”.

Godafoss is considered by many to be the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. We eventually end up in the mord Eyjamordur, where we will visit Akureyri, the second largest town in Iceland. In Akureyri we can count the steps to the city church, or stroll through the main shopping street.

Day 6

Akureyri – Vahmarlid – Blonduos – Hvammstangi

Journey to the Capital

Today we will be departing from Akureyri to the capital of Iceland – Reykjavik.

Along the journey we will be passing some fascinating epic place of interests such as Varmahlíð.

Varmahlíð is a small village near Skagamordur in Northern Iceland. Around 140 people live on the eastern slope of the hill for which the town is named. Varmahlíð is in the middle of a flourishing agricultural area, where the Icelandic Horse has been treasured for centuries.

We will then back on route 1 and we will pass the village of Blönduós spread on both sides of the Blanda river with Hrútey Island, a protected nature reserve. Afterward, we cross the Holtavörðuheiði plateau, BorgarUörður and also the beautiful town of Borgarnes. We will end the day in Reykjavik.

Day 7

Kirkjufell – Borganes

Journey to the Snaefellsness Peninsula

Today we will be departing from Keflavik to one of the most beautiful and quiet place in Iceland – The Snaefellsness Peninsula. Along the journey we will be passing some fascinating epic place of interests such as Snæfellsjökull National Park.

Snæfellsjökull National Park is found on the tip of theSnæfellsnes Peninsula and is one of three National Parks in Iceland. It is named after its crowning glacier and volcano.

Overnight in Snaefellsness/nearby.

 

Day 8

Reykjavik Free & Easy

Free & Easy in Reykjavik

We will be spending the whole day in the beautiful capital city of Iceland – Reykjavik. It’s a Free and Easy day before we leaving Iceland on the next day.

 

Day 9

Keflavik Airport

Today, we will be departing to the airport early in the morning to catch the flight back to Malaysia/Singapore.

  • Flight ticket to Iceland
  • All meals (We recommend all tour members cooking together as this is the real fun part of camping adventure)
  • Travel Insurance
  • Tips for Tour Leader
  • EUR 10/Pax/Day (for tour size 10 pax and below) is to be paid and collected by Tour Leader on last day of the tour

 

Notes:

  • Please bring enough clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, medicine essentials, toiletries and etc.
  • Aurora (Northern lights) is an unpredictable natural phenomenal and there is no assurance in the hunt.
  • We reserve the right to alter the itinerary due to any unforeseen circumstances such as weather and road conditions, natural disaster, flight delay, government restriction, and etc.
  • This camping tour main and only focus will be our itinerary. We will not be able to arrange extra transportation and ensure your safety should you decided to leave the team. (Except pre-empt detour on the last night for hotel/hostel stay nearby our campsite)
  • If you really think that you are unfit to sleep in the tent, you can opt to stay in a hotel/hostel nearby the campsite of each night at your own cost. (Must be within 10km from the campsite we stay at that night, so we can provide free transportation).
  • If your accommodation is beyond 10km from our campsite, we will charge RM150/pax/trip (check-in and out).
  • We will not be able to provide transportation on any accommodation beyond 40km from our campsite.
