Day 1

Paro – Thimphu (68km, 1hrs) (-/L/D)

Arrives at Paro Airport.

Drive to Thimphu, visiting the longest iron bridge from the 14th century en route. After lunch, explore Tashi-chhoe Dzong, built in 1641, housing key administrative and religious offices. Visit Great Buddha Dordenma with the world’s largest bronze Buddha. Enjoy scenic views of Thimphu city. At Bhutan Post Museum, personalize postage stamps with your photo. Explore the National Memorial Chorten, Craft Bazaar, and take a leisurely evening walk around the Clock Tower.

Day 2

Thimphu – Punakha via Dochula Pass (77km, 2.5hrs) (B/L/D)

Enjoy a leisurely drive to Dochula Pass (2,300m), adorned with colorful prayer flags. Admire the sight of 108 chortens against the Himalayan backdrop. Journey to Punakha, visiting Chimi Lhakhang, a unique monastery for those seeking fertility blessings. Explore the grand Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Male and Female Rivers.

Day 3

Punakha – Paro (145km 4hrs) (B/L/D)

After an early breakfast, hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Return to Paro after lunch. Visit Rinpung Dzong, built in 1646 by Zhabdrung NgawangNamgyal. Access the Dzong via an ancient wooden bridge, offering a view of its architectural wonder. Explore Ta Dzong, now the National Museum, housing art, relics, Thangka paintings, and Bhutan’s unique postage stamps.

Day 4

Hike to Taktsang Monastery (10,200ft) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, embark on a hike to Paro Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. Situated 900m above the Paro Valley floor on a cliff, it’s a prominent religious site and a marvel in the world. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on a tigress, meditating at this monastery, hence its name.

The 4-hour hike offers an incredible and memorable experience. If time permits in the evening, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the last three surviving temples from the 7th century.

Day 5

Depart for Airport (B/-/-)

After breakfast, transfer to Paro Airport for your flight.

  • Bhutan, a culturally conservative country, requires visitors to wear sleeved tops and knee-length pants or skirts when visiting temples and Dzong. Some Dzong may also insist on long-sleeved attire, prohibiting exposed limbs.
  • The itinerary involves hiking activities, so please decide whether to register based on your own physical fitness and health condition.
  • Cash is the predominant form of payment in Bhutan, with the Ngultrum (BTN) being the official currency. Currency exchange services are available at the airport.
