Day 1

Urumqi (D)

Arrives Urumqi International Airport, transfer to hotel.

Overnight at Urumqi.

 

Day 2

Urumqi – Turpan (B/L/D)

After breakfast, depart to Tuyugou, visit the ancient Uyghur village in Xinjiang (which has a history of 1700 years), also known as Mecca of China.

Next, visit Jiaohe Ruins – the largest, oldest and well-preserved ancient city, dating back over 2000 years, it was also the seat of protector general of the Western Regions.

Overnight at Turpan.

Journey – 195km (2.5H)

 

Day 3

Turpan – Korla (B/L/D)

Visit Karez well system – an ancient irrigation system connected by underground canals.

Next, visit Flaming mountain. Pass by Toksun county and Tianshan valley en route to Korla, visit Iron Gate Pass.

Overnight at Korla.

Journey – 400km (5H)

 

Day 4

Korla – Populus Euphratica Forest – Desert Highway – Luntai (B/L/D)

After breakfast, depart for the second largest desert in the world – Taklamakan Desert (known as “Sea of Death”) through Taklamakan desert highway. This desert-crossing highway is 446km long and is the world’s longest desert highway. You can admire the thousand year-old Populus Euphratica Forest in the desert.

Overnight in Luntai.

Day 5

Luntai – Mysterious Grand Canyon of Tianshan – Subashi Ancient City Ruins – Kuqa (B/L/D)

After breakfast, visit the Mysterious Grand Canyon of Tianshan, famed for its red cliffs and unique rock formations, perfect for photography.

Then, continue to the Subashi Ancient City Ruins, a historic Silk Road site that echoes stories from a thousand years ago.

Overnights in Kuqa.

Journey – 250km (3H)

 

Day 6

Kuqa – Kuqa Old Town – Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves – Kashgar (B/L/D)

After breakfast, explore Kuqa Old Town to experience the unique culture and charm of this historic city.
Then, visit the Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves to admire the ancient Buddhist grottoes and murals, immersing yourself in the profound religious heritage.
In the evening, return to Kuqa and prepare to board the night train to Kashgar, embarking on the next part of the journey.

Overnight on the hard sleeper train (Kuqa to Kashgar).

Day 7

Kashgar (B/L/D)

Arrive in Kashgar in the morning, take some time to rest, and enjoy breakfast. Afterward, explore Kashgar Old Town, a blend of rich history and cultural heritage.
In the afternoon, all members will personally apply for the border pass, an essential document for traveling in Kashgar and surrounding areas, ensuring a smooth journey ahead.

Day 8

Kashgar – Tashkurghan (B/L/D)

Depart for Tashkurghan, enjoy the Uyghur’s farmhouse idyllic rural scenery landscape along the way, viewing Oytak mountain (also known as “Southern Xinjiang Flaming mountain) from afar, enjoy the amazing view of Muztagata mountain – Father of ice mountains.

Overnight at Tashkurghan.

Day 9

Tashkurghan – Kashgar (B/L/D)

Visit Tashkurghan Stone City – one of the three famous historical stone city in China, which has a history of over thousand years, and it was completed by Selkur in 120 days.

Day 10

Kashgar – Livestock Bazaar – Urumqi (B/L/D)

Visit Kashgar Livestock Bazaar, “Bazaar” in Uyghur means market. It is the largest market for cattle, sheep, horses, donkeys, camels, and etc in Southern Xinjiang.

Next, head to Kashgar Grand Bazaar.

Back to Urumqi by train.

Overnight at Urumqi.

Day 11

Urumqi – Tianshan Tianchi (B/L/D)

Visit Tianshan Tianchi scenic area.

Next, visit Urumqi International Grand Bazaar.

Overnight at Urumqi.
