10D9N Mongolia Gobi Desert Tour

Day 1

Arrive at Ulaanbaatar

Transfer to hotel in city center. After lunch, take a rest at hotel due to the long flight.

 

Day 2

Ulaanbaatar Free & Easy

Exploring the city centre of Ulaanbaatar, shopping for souvenirs, and enjoying local cuisine. Enjoy the day in the heart f Ulaanbaatar.

 

Day 3

White Mountain – Tsagaan Suvarga (8 Hour Journey)

This is an area of 30 m – high white limestone formations, in the middle of nowhere.

The rock shaped uniquely because of natural erosion caused by wind and rain.

Overnight stay in a nomadic family’s ger.

Electricity, modern toilet and shower are not available.

 

Day 4

Bayanzag National Park (5 Hour Journey)

Bayanzag red sand cliffs, today better known as “flaming cliffs” due to their colours ochre and red.

It’s widely known when an American paleontologist discovered the world’s first dinosaur egg fossil and unearthed numerous dinosaur fossils and eggs fossils.

Overnight stay in a nomadic family’s ger.

Electricity, modern toilet and shower are not available.

 

Day 5

Sand Dunes – Khongoryn Els, National Park (5 Hour Journey)

Khongoryn Els sand dunes is the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia.

Today, you can witness the beauty and desolation of Gobi Desert, go camel riding and wander over sand dunes.

Overnight stay with a nomadic family’s ger.

Electricity, modern toilet and shower are not available.

 

Day 6

Ice Valley – Yoliin am (6 hour journey)

Yoliin am *the translation is Vulture’s mouth) is famous for its spectacular scenery of icy narrow gorge, birds and wild animals in the middle of the Gobi Desert.

Overnight stay in a nomadic family’s ger.

Electricity, modern toilet and shower are not available.

 

Day 7

Drive to Dalanzadgad Town, Omnogobi Aimag’s Center (1 Hour Journey)

Visit the Dinosaur’s museum.

Supermarket, bank and public internet service are available in this small town.

Continue the journey to Rock Formation – Baga Gazriin Chuluu, National Park. (8 Hour Journey)

Mountains composed of granite, form a unique natural landscape. The strange appearance makes one feel like they are on an another planet.

Overnight stay in a nomadic family’s ger.

Electricity, modern toilet and shower are not available.

 

Day 8

Terelj National Park (8 Hour Journey)

The National Park area is very impressive, with massive rock formations set among scenic valleys and hills with a winding river and groves of trees.

Experience a short and fun horse riding here.

Overnight stay in a resort.

 

Day 9

Drive Back to Ulaanbaatar via Chinggis Khaan Statue (3 Hour Journey)

A long drive back to the capital city Ulaanbaatar, have a photo stop at Chinggis Khaan Statue. Arrive city centre in late afternoon, check-in to hotel.

 

Day 10

Ulaanbaatar – Home

Transfer to airport for the flight home.

Accommodations:

  • Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, two-sharing basis, attached bath.
  • Sleeping in an authentic Mongolian ger in other areas; Ger come in different sizes, each could accommodate between 4 to 6 persons, mixed-gender sharing. Electricity, modern toilet and shower are not available.

  • Single-room supplement: RM200 per night, 3 nights total RM600. (Ulaanbaatar city)

Note:

  • The difference of temperature in the day and night is high in Mongolia, especially in desert areas. Please prepare warm clothing, scarves, hats, heat packs, etc to keep yourself warm.
  • Sandstorms will unavoidably happen in the desert. It is recommended to bring masks, scarves, and sunglasses. Please remember to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated because the UV in the suburbs is severe.
  • The yurts’ facilities are basic. Multiple sharing and mixed-gender sharing are also possible. There is also no access to electricity, modern toilets, or showers. It is recommended that tour members bring wet wipes for basic cleaning.
  • Due to the dry climate or potential for acclimatization, bring your usual prescriptions, such as cold, stomach, and throat medications.
  • Tour members can bring U.S. currency and exchange it for Mongolian Tughrik (tögrög) at a local money changer.
  • Itinerary serves as guideline and it may varies due to weather changes or any unforeseen circumstances.
